Trend : Flats With Hankle Straps

Flats were rampant on the runways for Spring 2014—a welcome relief for our feet from towering plaforms and teetering stilettos. And while the borrowed-from-the-boys oxfords and athletic-inspired sandals and slides are seemingly easy to wear with skirts, pants, etc., the newcomer to the group, the ankle-strap flat, leaves some of us dumbfounded. Ankle-straps historically are hard to wear unless you have stems for days, as the strap can cut off your leg line. A high heel has been its saving grace, so what to do when the vamp is removed?

The trick for after-dark is to go a little higher with your hemline; an asymmetrical choice is chicer than a full-on mini. For the weekend, take your boyfriend jeans up a notch by rolling the hemline tightly right above the ankle to create a tapered leg on an otherwise relaxed fit. Comfort never looked so chic.
